Legend of the Jam and Style Council Paul Weller to play Lincolnshire gig this week reports the Grimsby Telegraph

Jam legend Paul Weller will be appearing on stage in Northern Lincolnshire this week.

In a huge coup, the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe has booked the former singer of The Jam and The Style Council to play on Tuesday night.

The musician stayed at Grimsby's Humber Royal hotel before a gig in Skegness in June 1981.

The tour sees Paul play a more varied selection of towns across the UK than the usual run of arenas and the show at The Baths Hall is the only show he is doing in the Humber region.

Having split up The Jam at the height of their powers in 1982 after six era-defining albums, Paul Weller spent the rest of the 80s challenging pop convention with The Style Council, releasing five albums during their eclectic career.

Forging a solo career in the early 90s, Paul Weller was reinstalled as the pre-eminent songwriter of his generation with a total of 11 solo albums to him name and winning a long list of awards including the prestigious Ivor Norvello award for Lifetime achievement in 2010 and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2006.

Paul's as yet unnamed 12th studio album will be released in the spring.

Tickets for the gig sold out in ten minutes.
