‘Documenting the style of John Simons, one of Britain's menswear Modfathers’ by Nick Carvell of GQ

"You might not know his name, but there's a strong case to be made that John Simons is the father of the Britain's #menswear revolution. Back in 1964 he opened The Ivy Store in Richmond which, as Britain's first stockist for preppy labels like Filson, Pendleton and Brooks Brothers, fast became the mecca of any Londoner interested in smart Americana.

Over the years he has opened and closed shops in many areas of the capital (the current iteration is John Simons on Chiltern Street), but his following and his fanbase has remained strong. Now he's having a documentary made that will delve deeper into his life, his love of Mod and his groundbreaking work within the fashion industry.

Spearheaded by Garmsville founder Jason Jules, The Neat Offensive has contributions from a whole host of names including GQ contributor Robert Elms, Mod hero Paul Weller and GQ Editor Dylan Jones."

The film arrives online later this spring, but in the meantime take a look at the trailer here…
