“Quadrophenia star’s drink mayhem” reports The Sun

Sad to see the news story just received in via The Sun newspaper and written by Jamie Pyatt on actor Gary Shail who, as we all know, played 'Spider' in 'Quadrophenia'. In the words of the Rolling Stones, "What a drag it is getting old......."

"A STAR of cult film Quadrophenia went on a boozy rampage at his girlfriend’s flat, a court heard.

Actor Gary Shail, 53, who played scooter-riding Spider in the 1979 tale of mods and rockers, screamed abuse and broke a £1,000 marble table.

He called Lesley Hannibal “a fat ****”, hurled objects around, smashed her phone and threatened to kill himself with a knife.

Magistrates heard recovering alcoholic Shail, who had been drinking, was “like a man possessed” until cops arrived at the flat in Southsea, Hants.

Prosecutor Colin Shackle told the Portsmouth hearing the actor was “abusive and vile”.

Simon Moger, defending, said he was “remorseful” and blamed the drink. Shail, who admitted assault and criminal damage, was given restraining and supervision orders."
